Norah Turner lived in Horsley for over 60 years. Sadly, she passed away a few weeks ago. Her family and friends wanted something in the Village to remember her.
Her daughter Catherine got in touch with the Village Hall, and it was agreed donations would be put to something tangible. Eventually a magnificent £700 was raised and following further discussions, it was agreed that a clock would be sited at the front of the Village Hall. Also, a three-seater bench, on the recreations ground, on the boundary of the Village Hall overlooking the whole area.
On Saturday 9 November, Catherine formally handed the two items over to the Village Hall.
She said, ‘we are all delighted that somethings very practical have been bought and will remain in a lovely sunny area and help us and all who knew Norah, to remember her’.
David Pinion, Horsley Village Hall secretary said ‘It is really pleasing, on behalf of the Management Committee, to accept these very generous gifts from Norah’s family and friends. She was an avid user of the old Village Hall, and it is very meaningful that these gifts will be here in her memory.
